BELVOIR DOWNSTAIRS THEATRE
Film director Peter Carstairs (September) makes his B Sharp debut with the hilarious black comedy The Lonesome West from award winning award‐playwright Martin McDonagh (In Bruges, The Pillowman), the third work in his famous Leenane trilogy.
Set against the bleak y backdrop of the west coast of Ireland, the Connor brothers, who have been fighting since before they could walk, have just buried their Dad who died in a suspicious shotgun ‘accident’. The parish priest, plagued by his own ineptitude and the town’s increasing reputation as the ‘accidental death’ capital of the world, takes it upon himself to teach the boys the true meaning of love and forgiveness. As the brothers try to put aside their differences, a darkly funny, disturbing and explosively wild ride ensues. |
