WE WILL ROCK YOU is a new breed of musical – a unique collaboration between QUEEN, the legends of rock and one of the United Kingdom’s most phenomenally successful writers, Ben Elton.

WE WILL ROCK YOU took six years of development and at a cost of 7.5 million pounds, the highly anticipated Queen/Ben Elton musical “We Will Rock You” arrived in London’s West End on 14 May, 2002 at The Dominion Theatre, Tottenham Court Road.

WE WILL ROCK YOU has been London’s number 1 show since its opening, breaking all house records at London’s largest theatre, and has been playing to standing ovations nightly. With its innovative use of high technology, it has been hailed as “a new breed of musical” (BBC Newsnight) and “a hi-tech extravaganza” (The Guardian).

Written by Ben Elton and featuring 32 of Queen’s greatest hits, WE WILL ROCK YOU presents an extraordinary company of singers and actors in a futurist adventure set in a time when live music is banned on earth. The kids are in rebellion, fighting against the all-powerful Globalsoft Corporation who control their lives and feed them a diet of synthesised pop. A hero is needed who can help them rediscover themselves and live music. Could ‘the dreamer’, the young Galieo Fiagro, be that man, and can he help them break their chains?

The show brings together a production and design team behind some of the biggest international theatre productions and rock tours.

  • Production designers Mark Fisher and Willie Williams have created set designs for Pink Floyd, The Rolling Stones, Janet Jackson and the acclaimed multi-media shows for U2. With WE WILL ROCK YOU they have pushed design the boundaries even further.
  • Costume Designer Tim Goodchild has already achieved three Olivier Awards for his work at the Royal Shakespeare Company in the West End.
  • Music supervisor Mike Dixon combines a career in theatre and television. He has worked extensively with Andrew Lloyd Webber and on the most recent productions of Grease and Dr. Dolittle.
  • Choreographer Arlene Phillips directed two of Freddie Mercury’s most flamboyant performances in the music videos Made In Heaven and Born To Love You and her work in the theatre has seen her choreograph some of the biggest stage musicals in the past two years.

WE WILL ROCK YOU has recently celebrated its fourth year anniversary in London and the rest of the world is following. There have now been productions in Spain, Australia, Las Vegas, Russia, Germany and recently South Africa.

Arts Asia Pacific is working with ERUM Ent to present the Korean premiere of WE WILL ROCK YOU as the part of an Asian tour of the production.
